Here we have a BSA (Birmingham Small Arms) No.1 MK III* Lee Enfield rifle chambered in .303 Brit. Until 1915, the No.1 MK III SMLE was the standard issue rifle of the British Empire and its Commonwealth. Unfortunately, its production was deemed too complicated and costly in materials for war time production. In order to increase production, certain features were deleted resulting in the No.1 Mk III*. These changes (along with some outsourcing) massively helped increase the numbers of rifles produced and would go on to be carried by soldiers in the battles and theaters of both WW1 and WW2.
The example we have here was made by Birmingham Small Arms Company (BSA) in 1916. Despite it’s age and very real potential of having seen use in both World Wars, it is in a fair-good condition. This will make a great addition to your collection!
Due to the size and care needed to ship this rifle correctly, the shipping cost will be higher.
