The Remington No. 1 Rolling Block rifle is a renowned single-shot, breech-loading rifle known for its simple, robust, and reliable design. It gained popularity in the late 19th and into the early 20th century, particularly as a military rifle and for hunting, with widespread use by 48 countries. The United Kingdoms of Sweden and Norway were the first military to adopt the Rolling Block rifle for use. Remington shipped 250,000 Rolling Block receivers to Sweden and they were then built into rifles and carbines under license by Carl Gustafs Stads Gevärsfaktori and Husqvarna Vapenfabriks Aktiebolag, and about 53,000 rifles in Norway by Kongsberg Vaapenfabrik.
This rifle is a great example of the M1867, it was made in 1868 by Carl Gustafs Stads Gevärsfaktori. It was re-barreled in 1896 from 12.17×42mmRF to 8×58mmR Danish Krag centerfire. It is all matching and has the original cleaning rod.
