The Remington No. 1 Rolling Block rifle is a renowned single-shot, breech-loading rifle known for its simple, robust, and reliable design. It gained popularity in the late 19th and into the early 20th century, particularly as a military rifle and for hunting, with widespread use by 48 countries. Its distinctive “rolling block” action, where a pivoting block rotates behind the cartridge to lock the breech, is a key feature. The United Kingdom of Norway and Sweden was the first to adopt the Rolling Block Rifle into military service with many rifles ending up in civilian hands after they were replaced.
This rifle is one of those Swedish rifles that ended up in civilian hands and was sporterized into a hunting rifle. A previous owner curiously flipped the butt plate upside down and refitted it. It is chambered in 12.7x44mm and comes with 10 brass casings that are ready to be hand loaded.
Because we do not definitively know it’s age, this will be sent to an FFL.
Due to the size and care needed to ship this rifle correctly, the shipping cost will be higher.
