Toyo Kogyo Type 99 Arisaka, 31st Series Japanese Rifle. This was the standard 7.7 mm Japanese rifle of the Pacific War. Although it never fully replaced the 6.5 mm Type 38 rifle In the Japanese Army it was the most commonly encountered rifle outside of the Chinese Theater (AKA Second Sino-Japanese War). This is an early production rifle but is missing early features such as the monopod and the dust cover. This is exactly what you are looking for if you want a Japanese Army rifle that saw some action in the Pacific. You never have to worry about a bad bore on one of these rifles as the bore was chrome plated. The Type 99 rifle was a very innovative design for a bolt action rifle, and while it may have been a dated and obsolete design by the by the time semi-autos were becoming standard issue. These were popular trophies of war and this one here does appear to be one.
Compared to others this one is a rougher example and appears to have been brought back. The stock has been lacquered at some point, it’s missing the dust cover and mono pod, mum has been ground, a front sight guard/wing is missing, and the name “Moriarty” has been carved into the stock at some point in it’s past.
Due to the size and care needed to ship this rifle correctly, the shipping cost will be higher.
