The Karabiner 98 kurz often abbreviated Karabiner 98k, Kar98k or K98k, is a bolt-action rifle chambered in 8mm Mauser (7.92x57mm) cartridge. It was adopted on June 21, 1935 as the standard service rifle by the German Wehrmacht. It was one of the final developments in the lineage of Mauser military rifles. Despite being a Mauser design, many manufacturers produced them during WW2. These rifles are the iconic bolt action rifle of the Third Reich, featured in many movies, television series, and video games.
This particular rifle was made by J.P. Sauer & Sohn (“ce” manufacturer code) in 1944. Out of the 14.6 million rifles produced approximately 1.9 million were made by J.P Sauer & Sohn. Condition of this rifle is conservatively “Fair”, surface rust is present, worn finish, non-matching parts, poor bore condition.
